Melanie Cruz

Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula, CPD, Certified Lactation Specialist (CLES), Body Ready Method Pro Specialist (BRM)

  • Melanie grew up in Aurora, Colorado and has been passionate about birth ever since she was supposed to see one of her younger sisters come into the world when she was nine. Although that didn’t end up working out because of an emergency cesarean birth, her fascination with all things related to pregnancy, birth, birthing, babies and our bodies never left. Even in college when she was studying English and Theatre, Melanie found herself spending precious hours reading books on midwifery, birthing and breastfeeding. Right around this time was also when she was able to attend the birth of her baby sister, which only cemented her interest in the birth world. An accomplished actor, Melanie spent years trying to figure out how to combine her two passions. She even went back to college and did all of her prereqs to potentially go to grad school to obtain her Masters in Nurse-Midwifery. In the winter of 2020, Melanie signed up for a DONA birth doula training at Bini Birth and hasn’t looked back. She has taken the 15-week CPD courses at Allo Doula Academy, a CLES course through Santiago Canyon College in conjunction with BreastfeedLA and recently completed the incredible Body Ready Method course. Melanie’s passion is providing empowered an intentional fertility, pregnancy, birth and postpartum services for her clients.

Kaley Amenero

Postpartum Doula

  • Kaley’s journey as child care provider began 5 years ago. While attending California State University of Long Beach to complete her Bachelor’s in Child Development and Family Studies with a minor in Women’s studies, she worked as a Teacher’s Assistant at a daycare for infants and toddlers. This then led Kaley to work with families closely as a professional nanny, specialized in the care of infants and toddlers. Her knowledge and understanding of newborn phase grew, as well as her passion for a space in the world of caring for infants. Kaley is now applying her knowledge as a trained Post Partum Doula.

“I believe in a culture where the post partum period is one where families should be supported and surrounded with love, care, and evidence based information.” Kaley’s hopes are for parents to make informed, non-fear based decisions when raising their little ones. When serving families, her priority is to be an extended source of support. Her support can vary in its deliverance whether it be emotional or physical.

Kaley believes there is a huge space for mothers and families of all backgrounds to be supported by birth and post partum doulas in order to promote the health and wellness of everyone involved in the post partum period.
